Feds investigate Illinois, again

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems that as it relates to the operations of state government, there’s a new story fairly regularly about how corruption and waste have infected the state of Illinois. The broad brush of how this goes is as follows: there’s a rather obscure area that some investigators have stumbled upon, and in this area there is widespread, institutionalized abuse and fraud. In Defense of Local Government, part II

I had the pleasure today of meeting two gentlemen and in the course of our conversation, describing why this organization exists, and what it is we do. Human beings are our own worst critics; and today I don’t think I did my best in describing our vision and purpose. Chalk it up to stress, distractions, or just not 100% focus, but I would take a do-over if those were permitted. A European Warning

Many of you probably remember Daniel Hannan, even if the name doesn’t immediately ring a bell. He’s the conservative member of the British Parliament who verbally and famously derided Gordon Brown as the devalued Prime Minister of a devalued government.
